Salem restaurant temporarily closes after health inspection, 'critical violation' found

A restaurant in Salem has closed temporarily following an inspection by the Salem City Health District.
According to a news release shared with 21 News on Friday, January 30, an inspection was conducted at Main Moon, located at 200 East 2nd Street in Salem, on Tuesday.
During the inspection, a "critical violation" was noted. However, the release does not go into detail about what that violation was.
Minor infractions were also noted, such as improved cleaning practices that the business must implement.
The Director of Environmental Health, Charles Weatherly, imposed an immediate suspension of Main Moon's food service license, which will be in place until the restaurant can come back into compliance.
The release states that the Salem City Health District has offered guidance to the owners and staff and is hoping for a "swift and safe" reopening.
A sign posted on the front door of the Main Moon states that the business is closed for the time being, and a reopening date of February 3 is listed.
