Governor DeWine delays executions of several inmates

Ohio Governor DeWine announced in a news release on Friday, January 30, that several inmate executions have been delayed.
DeWine issued the execution reprieves for Gerald Hand, Danny Lee Hill, and Cleveland R. Jackson.
Hill was convicted of murdering 12-year-old Raymond Fife of Warren in 1985 and was sentenced to death.
He was originally scheduled to be executed on July 22, 2026. However, the new date has been moved to July 18, 2029.
The reason for the rescheduled date is due to issues involving the "willingness of pharmaceutical suppliers" to supply drugs to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC).
Hill has appealed the decision to convict several times, including once claiming he is "intellectually disabled" and once to dismiss evidence used to convict him of murder.
In addition to Hill, two other inmates will see delayed execution dates.
Hand was originally scheduled to be executed on June 17, 2026. His new execution date is set for April 18, 2029.
Jackson was originally scheduled to be executed on July 15, 2026. The new date of execution has been set for June 13, 2029.
