AAA East Central is reporting a surge in requests following a snowstorm that impacted much of the region during the weekend of January 23, 2026.
Between Saturday and Thursday, calls for assistance related to dead batteries, stuck vehicles and stranded motorists were among the top calls that AAA East Central agents received.
Over 37,000 service calls were reported throughout the territory, which AAA East Central says is about 80% higher than average in the winter.
"Our call centers have been extremely busy this week, and there's no sign of things slowing down," said Jim Garrity, Director of Public Affairs for AAA East Central.
Garrity continued," We implore the public to take precautions in the face of continued bitter cold to avoid an unnecessary roadside breakdown."
Top service requests include:
- Dead batteries, totaling 36%
- Towing requests, totaling 34%
- Extractions, totaling 18%
