A power outage on the south side of Youngstown left more than 1,000 people without electricity on Sunday evening. FirstEnergy reported that 1,173 customers lost power in an area near the Idora and Newport neighborhoods.

Utility crews have since restored power. The company has not yet identified the specific reason for the failure. 

The outage came during a week of very cold weather in the region.
