BRIMFIELD TWP. - Two people were injured Sunday afternoon when a small plane crashed into a wooded area in Portage County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Ravenna Post responded to the scene near Ranfield Road at approximately 2:30 p.m. Investigators said a Piper Cub aircraft lost power before going down west of State Route 44.

Two people were on board the two-seat aircraft at the time of the crash. Both occupants sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Emergency responders transported one person to Akron General Medical Center and the other to Akron Children’s Hospital for evaluation.

An inspector from the Federal Aviation Administration is traveling to the site to assist with the investigation. The highway patrol has not released the names of the occupants or further details regarding the cause of the power loss.
