NILES - A section of the Eastwood Mall in Niles is still under a boil alert as of Thursday morning following a water main break on Tuesday afternoon.

Water service was restored on Wednesday, but a boil alert was for the entire mall except for the North Commons and Howland Commons plazas, as well as Route 422 between Mr. Hero and the bridge just past Burger King.

Niles Water Superintendent and City Engineer Kevin Robertson tells 21 News he anticipates the boil alert to be lifted between 11 a.m. and noon on Friday, February 6, but nothing is guaranteed.

Robertson says water testing is complete and the city is now waiting on the results to come back. Whether or not the boil alert is lifted will depend on those test results.

The Eastwood Mall lost water just before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the mall tells 21 News that despite the boil alert, the mall will still be open during the boil alert and the only impact will be the sale of fountain drinks.
