NILES - A section of the Eastwood Mall in Niles is currently under a boil alert following a water main break on Tuesday afternoon.

Areas of Niles impacted by the break included:

  • Fairhaven Heights
  • The area of Route 422 between Route 46 and the Niles City Cemetery

As of Wednesday morning, water services have been restored, but a boil alert has been for the entire mall except for the North Commons and Howland Commons plazas.

According to an alert from the City of Niles, the boil alert impacts Route 422 between Mr. Hero in the Mall View Plaza to the bridge just past Burger King. 

The Eastwood Mall lost water just before 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the mall tells 21 News that despite the boil alert, the mall will still be open during its regularly scheduled hours on Wednesday.

The spokesperson says whether or not this impacts services at the mall's food court will depend on how long the boil alert lasts.
