Another burst of snow Friday with a harsh weekend to follow

We will feature one more quiet day before an active day on Friday.
Thursday will remain cloudy and colder, with high temperatures not making it out of the upper teens for many across the area.
Light snow will begin falling very early Friday morning, shortly before daybreak. Snow will start light and may intensify for a time throughout Friday morning and into the midday hours, then taper off briefly. We are expecting another widespread swath of snow to work in later Friday evening, shortly after sunset. A total of 1 to 2 inches of snowfall accumulation will be possible by sunset, with an additional 1 to 2 inches after sunset. Roads could be slick for a time, especially Friday morning and into the early afternoon, as that initial batch of snow works through.
This weekend turns very harsh with windchill values dipping as cold as 20 below zero Saturday morning and staying below zero all day. Air temperatures will only peak in the single digits Saturday afternoon, which could be our coldest day since late January 2019.

Air temperatures will fall below zero Sunday morning, and Sunday's temperatures, while improved, will stay very cold. High temperatures will only reach the upper teens Sunday afternoon, with plenty of clouds and flurries around at times.
We will see some immediate improvement next week, with high temperatures making their way from the mid 20s on Monday to the upper 30s Tuesday and Wednesday, and the second half of the week will feature plenty of 30° high temperatures leading into Valentine's Day weekend.
