Marshals reveal more information on suspect in Coitsville officer-involved shooting
COITSVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - U.S. Marshals have provided an update on the suspect in an officer-involved shooting at a Coitsville Township home on Thursday morning.
According to a press release, Marshals were searching for a 74-year-old male who was wanted by the Poland Village Police Department for allegedly fleeing a traffic stop.
Marshals say the suspect was found in a mobile home parked on a property at the end of Galluppi Drive around 11 a.m. on Thursday.
The suspect allegedly brandished a gun and pointed it at officers, prompting the officers to fire at the suspect, who was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries. No officers were injured in the shooting.
There is no word on the suspect's name or condition at this time.
A spokesperson for BCI told 21 News the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office called the agency to handle the investigation. BCI arrived at the scene after 1:20 p.m. on Thursday to conduct its investigation.
Our 21 News crew at the scene saw several Mahoning County Sheriff's Office cruisers, as well as Coitsville Police Department cruisers and EMS vehicles at the home.
