A snowy Friday leads us to a bitterly cold start to the weekend

A thin layer of ice developed on area roadways Friday morning, causing roads to become very slick in a hurry. Exercise caution on Friday as you travel throughout the Valley, as snow will make roads extra slick for the morning and into the afternoon.
Expect snow to taper off slightly in the afternoon before reintensifying in the evening, with even a snow squall potentially pushing through the area between 6 and 8 PM.
This won't be a lot of snow by any means; snow totals will add up to an inch or two by sunset, and an additional inch or two by daybreak Saturday.
After the evening batch of snow works out of the area, we will be left with a few flurries overnight into early Saturday morning.
Our coldest air of the season arrives on Saturday. Wind chill values will dip below zero before midnight Friday and could drop as cold as 25 below zero Saturday morning. Air temperatures will drop slightly below zero on Saturday morning and only rise to the single digits on Saturday afternoon. Expect wind chill values to stay below zero all day Saturday through part of the day Sunday.
A few flurries will be possible on Sunday, with high temperatures slightly improved to the upper teens.
Next week will be headlined by improving temperatures, with high temperatures in the upper 30s on Tuesday and Wednesday.
