Mercer county bridge included in preservation project

Over two dozen bridges in northwest Pennsylvania are set to be repaired and fortified starting this year. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said in a Friday statement that crews will be working to protect the region from potential future flooding.
The work will vary depending on the area but is expected to include rock protection, stream bed paving, concrete placement and repairs to deteriorated concrete.
In Mercer County, PennDOT crews will be working to fortify Route 62 over Sandy Creek Tributary in Sandy Lake Township.
No detours are expected as a result of the bridge work but PennDOT stated there may be temporary access roads needed at some locations.
Bridges in Crawford, Erie, Forest, Warren and Venango counties will also be under repair throughout the year as part of the preservation project.
The public comment forum and more information on the project is on PennDOT's website.
