NILES- Local vendors sold their products at the Valentine's Day Craft and Vendor Market at Eastwood Mall on Saturday and Sunday to sell Valentine's Day gifts to customers.

The event was organized by Hometown Vendors, a company that organizes craft markets across the country.

The vendors sold items such as jewelry, baked goods, clothing items, and candles.

Event coordinator Lori McDonald says the market allows local vendors to set up shop in an area with high foot traffic.

"It's just really something that allows small businesses, like my own, to sell their products and be able to reach the local community," she said.

McDonald, who also operated her own shop, adds that one vendor sold out her collection of cookies and cookie-making kits Saturday and had to close early.

"So she went home yesterday to make some more and bring them back today," she said.

Gayle Poots operates Little Cotton Candles, which sells scented soy candles to customers. She says her most popular scents are coffee and 'Wick and Wander.'

"That is more of a woodsie, floral type of fragrance," she says.

Crave Soda, a mixed soda and energy drink company, sold beverges mixed with whipped cream and syrup, among other ingredients.

Kate Wingard, who operated Crave Soda's table, says Craft markets allow local businesses to get a start within their communities.

"It gets their name out there, and what else is better than in-person, trying something instead of just reading online or Facebook, or something," she said.

McDonald says she hopes to plan another craft and vendor market on Mother's Day.
