The trial of a Sharon man is set to get underway on Monday for the man accused of a fatal shooting that occurred nearly two years ago.

Jamel Lamar Jordan, 32, is scheduled to appear in Mercer County Common Pleas Court to stand trial on charges of first-degree murder, criminal homicide, and carrying a firearm without a license. The charges are related to the August 2024 death of 35-year-old Terran Page-Hughes.

Police found Page-Hughes with a gunshot wound to the head on Ravine Place in Sharon after receiving reports of gunfire. He later died in a hospital. Investigators believe Jordan and another man went to the area to confront Page-Hughes before the shooting took place.

Jordan has been held in the Mercer County Prison without bail since his arrest in May. The trial was originally assigned to Judge Tedd Nesbit but is now scheduled before Judge Ronald Amrhein Jr.

A third man involved in the case, Billy DeWayne Phillips, was sentenced in July. A jury found Phillips guilty of aggravated assault and conspiracy, but not guilty of murder. He received a prison sentence of 6 to 15 years.

Charges against a third suspect, Daniel Odem, were previously dismissed due to issues with a witness.

The proceedings are set to begin at 9 a.m.
