COLUMBIANA COUNTY, Ohio - State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel (R-New Waterford) has been named Conservation Legislator of the Year by the Columbiana County Federation of Conservation Clubs (CCFCC).

In a Monday press release, Blasdel said she was proud to receive the award. Through the annual award, CCFCC honors individuals who "demonstrate exceptional dedication to protecting natural resources, supporting conservation efforts, and preserving Ohio's outdoor traditions for future generations."

Blasdel added in the release that she learned as a child what it meant to be a "sportsman," by watching her father and they way he honored the outdoors.

"It's more than just the harvest or the catch. It's about ensuring that the wild places we love today are even healthier and more vibrant for the next generation," Blasdel stated. "It's about bringing like-minded people together to make memories, share stories, and shape future generations by teaching safety, skills, and methods for hunting, shooting, trapping, and fishing."
