Howland fitness & aquatic center closing pool as it prepares to move
HOWLAND TWP., Ohio - Reform Fitness & Aquatic Center in Howland Center will close its pool on March 1 as it prepares to move to a new facility.
Reform Fitness & Aquatic Center co-owner Tracy Ross tells 21 News that the pool is closed on March 1 so they can clear pool equipment from the Aquatic Center before they move to a new facility in mid-March, also located in Howland, that will not have a pool.
Ross says they will own their next facility to provide long-term financial stability as opposed to their current facility, which is rented out.
Building landlord Ashok Patel says he would like to find a tenant who will run the facility as a wellness center and pool. He adds that many senior citizens utilize the pool for exercise and its mobility-friendly swim classes.
"They've been using it for a while...and now they'll have to look somewhere else," he said.
Patels says he has asked the Trumbull County Commissioners and the Howland Township Zoning Commission for help to find a new tenant.
The current lease on the building expires on March 31.
"I want someone who is capable of taking care of the pool, and managing the pool the way it's supposed to be managed, and help our seniors so they don't have to go too far for their water exercise," he said.
Reform Fitness will send out more details about its new facility on a later date.
