WELLSVILLE, Ohio - Investigators found suspected narcotics and a loaded firearm while searching a home in Wellsville Friday morning.

The Columbiana County Drug Task Force worked with several local agencies to search a home on Danbury Avenue on Feb. 13. During the investigation, officials say they discovered more than 70 grams of suspected cocaine, a loaded 9mm handgun, and various prescription pills.

According to the sheriff's office, the search also turned up a small amount of methamphetamine. Investigators said they found materials used for packaging and weighing drugs, along with a substance often mixed with illegal drugs to increase the amount available for sale.

K-9 units from the Wellsville Police Department and the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office assisted in locating evidence.

The search involved officers from the sheriff’s office and police departments in Wellsville and East Liverpool. The task force also received assistance from several other local police departments and the Ohio Adult Parole Authority during the investigation.
