YOUNGSTOWN - The Youngstown Business and Professional Women (YBPW) is now accepting applications for two annual scholarships supporting women pursuing higher education in the Mahoning Valley.

The organization will award the $1,000 Dr. Anne McMahon scholarship to female students attending Youngstown State University.

The YBPW will also be awarding a $2,000 Centennial scholarship to female students attending a two or four year college, university, or a trade school in Columbiana, Mahoning, or Trumbull County.

YBPW President Gina DeGenova said that the organization has been supporting women's education in the Valley for over a century.

"For more than 100 years, YBPW has awarded various scholarships and educational gifts to females in the Valley," DeGenova said in a Tuesday press release.

She also stated that the YBPW annual scholarship was named for Dr. Anne McMahon back in 2013 to honor McMahon's commitment to connecting students' education to real-world business experiences. The scholarship is now offered through Youngstown State University.

YBPW also acknowledged the rising cost of education in its statement. In 2025, YBPW awarded five scholarships to women in the area totaling $10,000.

Dee McFarland, a past president and YBPW chairwomen, said "The vision of YBPW is the advancement and empowerment of women through mentorship and education. Awarding these scholarships ensures that YBPW will continue to live its vision and help support the education of the future female leaders of our Valley."

Applications for the Dr. Anne McMahon scholarship are available on the YBPW website. The Centennial scholarship is available online or by emailing Dee McFarland at ybpwboard@gmail.com.

The deadline for both scholarships is March 16, 2026.
