Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini donates $30k to Boardman first responder center

BOARDMAN - On Tuesday, Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, a local boxing legend, donated proceeds from his latest 'Fight Night' event to help out first responders in the area.
Mancini and his wife Tina presented a $30,000 check to the "Clarence R. Smith Jr.'s Family Mahoning Valley First Responder Wellness Center" in Boardman. Of the $30,000 donated, $15,000 came from Mancini himself.
The wellness center provides physical and mental health services and training sessions for first responders. It opened this past October and can be used by first responders from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
'Fight Night' held at the end of January was a sold-out event with nearly 500 people in attendance, including nine former world champion boxers.
It featured a dinner, live entertainment and amateur fight shows.
