YOUNGSTOWN - PolishYoungstown and Kravitz Deli in Youngstown joined forces for 'Paczki, Polkas & Piwo' on Tuesday, serving up a variety of Polish foods.

The day featured Polish-inspired treats like fresh, homemade paczki, accompanied by live polka music, all in celebration of Fat Tuesday.

Kravitz Deli Owner Matthew Rydarowicz says the shop was consistently busy and ended up selling dozens more paczki than in previous years.

"It means a lot to me everybody coming out. It means a lot to me how many paczki we've been selling. The first year, I think I sold 125 dozen; this year, we're going to be at 205. That's how much more we've done," said Rydarowicz.

What Rydarowicz loved seeing the most was customers enjoying themselves in the friendly, Polish atmosphere.

"The most rewarding part is seeing everybody come out and smiling and loving the food and getting good compliments," Rydarowicz said.

Rydarowicz says a lot goes into organizing and executing an event such as 'Paczki, Polkas & Piwo'. Nonetheless, he says his employees are becoming more and more prepared every year.

"My workers, you can tell every year how much more organized they are and they're having a good time, it's not all stressful," said Rydarowicz.

A portion of the proceeds made from Tuesday's sales will go towards PolishYoungstown's youth, education and travel grant programs.
