A New McDonald's owner/operator in Sharon, PA, held its first community-oriented event recently.

Owner Jana Banhagel visited West Hill Elementary School and gave students fresh apple slices, coupon booklets, and an appearance by a McDonald's mascot, the Grimace. The event was planned to demonstrate her commitment to investing in the local community she calls home.

"There's something incredibly charming and welcoming about this community, and I felt drawn to it right away," Banhagel said.

Banhagel said community involvement is at the heart of every McDonald's community, and she plans to support the school's reading incentive program. She also plans to continue her involvement with Biztown, a Junior Achievement program where she personally helps students prepare for future professional opportunities.

"Helping students build confidence through interview preparation and recognizing their academic achievements is so rewarding," Banhagel said. "If we can encourage them early and show them what's possible, that makes a lasting impact."

Banhagel also plans to participate in more local events, like teacher appreciation initiatives and the Hermitage Holiday Light Parade in November.

"This is home now, and I want our restaurants to reflect the pride, care, and connection that make this area so special," Banhagel said.
