MAHONING VALLEY, Ohio - In its 35th year, the Harvest for Hunger Campaign will kick off this Thursday to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.

The campaign runs from Thursday, February 19, to Wednesday, May 20.

Harvest for Hunger helps replenish the shelves of the food bank for the spring and summer months. According to a release, donations during this time of the year decline, even though the need remains high.

One of the campaign's initiatives, Check Out Hunger, will run at Giant Eagle and GetGo locations across the region. Customers of these locations can donate $2, $5, $10 or another amount of their choice at checkout.

If a business, school, organization, or individual is interested in hosting or funding a drive, they can call (330) 792-5522 or go to the food bank's website for more information.

In 2025, the campaign was able to provide over 1.6 million meals throughout the Valley, thanks to $320,000 that was raised and 12,000 pounds of food that was donated.

21 WFMJ and WBCB are sponsors of the Harvest for Hunger Campaign.
