HERMITAGE - The Mercer County Food Bank has anounced the date for its annual 'Empty Bowls Mercer County' event.

The fundraiser will take place on Thursday, April 23, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hickory VFW Post 6166, located at 5550 East State Street in Hermitage.

According to the Mercer County Food Bank's website, a light meal of bread and soup will be served, along with a beverage and dessert.

The soup will be served in a handmade bowl created by local artists and students, and can be taken home when the event is finished.

Many restaurants and organizations from around the area will be participating by offering up their own signature soups in support of the event.

Empty Bowls will also feature a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, a basket raffle and live entertainment.

Tickets to the event cost $30 each and include the meal as well as the handcrafted bowl. Those can be purchased online by clicking here.
