Trumbull County receiving $60k from settlement with pharmaceutical company

TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - Trumbull County will be receiving money from a settlement with pharmaceutical company, Value Drug.
The commissioners are expecting a lump sum of $60,000 from the settlement. The funds have no restrictions and can be spent on anything delegated by the county commissioners.
One possibility is going towards new or existing treatment and addiction assistance programs across the county.
“Mental health is very important to the commissioners here in Trumbull County,” Rick Hernandez, Trumbull County Commissioner said. “Anytime you're receiving millions of dollars to delegate to those services that will help fight addiction or even provide mental awareness that’s what we really want to use these monies for.”
This is a separate settlement from the $2.5 million opioid settlement the county has already received a portion of.
The county will receive the funds in the first quarter of the year which is in time for the 2027 budget discussion the commissioners will have with each department.
Commissioner Denny Malloy said this is the fourth settlement the county has received money from. Commissioner Hernandez said more settlements are expected in future years and will likely by higher amounts.
The total amount Value Drug agreed to pay out to several recipients was $550,000.
