Prosecutor's office rejects release of inmates convicted of rape, murder

The Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office announced on Thursday that it is rejecting the release of two men who have been previously convicted of crimes.
One of these men, Dana Cross, was convicted in 1995 of raping a 9-year-old boy and has since been serving a 40 to 100-year prison sentence.
A release by the prosecutor's office states that over the last two decades, Cross has committed 53 rule infractions while serving time in prison.
The other person the prosecutor's office is rejecting the release of is Kenneth Mosley, who was convicted of murder and burglary in 1988.
In December 1986, Mosley was attempting to rob a home when the homeowner confronted him. A physical altercation ensued between the two, and Mosley strangled the victim to death. Mosley proceeded to steal items from the home.
Mosley was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for the murder charge, and another five to 25 years for the burglary charge.
While in prison, the release states Mosley "demonstrated a lack of authority and has spent the majority of his incarceration as a level two or three inmate."
The prosecutor's office release states they rejected Cross's and Mosley's release from prison because it would "create undue risk to public safety" and that the two would continue to engage in criminal conduct.
