Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating fatal crash in Springfield Township

The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a fatal crash that happened in Springfield Township on February 20, 2026.
According to a release, the crash happened on State Route 170, north of Calla Road in Springfield Township, at 11:36 a.m.
The report states that a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated by 78-year-old Roseline Earwood of New Middletown, was traveling southbound on SR 170.
At the same time, a 2016 Ram Promaster 2500, operated by Elias Diamandis, 20, of Poland, was traveling northbound. Earwood crossed the center line into the path of Diamandis, striking the vehicle head-on.
Diamandis' vehicle caught fire and was put out by personnel.
Earwood is reported to have died on the scene, while Diamandis was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Both Diamandis and Earwood were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, and drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
Several departments responded to the crash, including Springfield Township Police, Fire and EMS, New Middletown Police and Poland Township Police.
