Ten Boardman swimmers are heading to the State Swimming Championships in Canton this weekend.

The boys swim team finished district runner-up, placing second out of 39 teams and missing the championship by just one point—marking the highest district finish in program history. The Spartans captured district titles in both the 200 Freestyle Relay (Zac Mihok, Lee Arent, Dominic White, Jack Benson – 1:28.91) and the 400 Freestyle Relay (Jack Benson, Samuel DiStefano, Dominic White, Zac Mihok – 3:16.81), with both relays earning automatic qualification to the state meet.

Mihok also qualified individually in two events, finishing second in the 200 Freestyle (1:43.57) and second in the 100 Backstroke, where he set a new team record with a time of 51.77. Mihok will make his third appearance at the state championships. In total, five boys qualified to compete at the state level.

On the girls' side, the Boardman Lady Tankers placed sixth overall in the 39-team field and also qualified five athletes for the Division I State Championships. Junior Alex Taylor led the way, earning District Champion honors in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 55.72—good for National All-American consideration—and finishing second in the 100 Freestyle (52.44). Both performances earned automatic state berths.

Sophomore Rachel DunLany secured an automatic qualification with a third-place finish in the 200 Freestyle (1:59.93). Boardman's 200 Freestyle Relay (Alex Taylor, Rachel DunLany, Julia Pickens, Ella Miller) placed third (1:38.80) to earn an at-large bid, while the 400 Freestyle Relay (Ella Miller, Rachel DunLany, Aly Murray, Alex Taylor) also placed third (3:39.54), qualifying for state and breaking a team record that had stood since 2013.
