A paving project totaling $4.4 million will begin in Mercer County on March 2, 2026, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

The paving project will impact 9.7 miles of Route 58 in Mercer and Grove City boroughs, along with Findley and Pine townships, from the intersection with Route 19 to the intersection with Campbell Drive.

To start, crews will begin with tree trimming on March 2, which is expected to be finished by March 31.

The remainder of the project includes:

  • Milling and paving
  • Cleaning and updating ditches
  • Inlets and drainage
  • Guide rail and ADA-compliant curb ramp upgrades
  • Roadway painting and grass planting

All of the above improvements will begin on April 1 and are expected to be completed at some point in September.

PennDOT outlines that drivers should expect traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions, as well as traffic controlled by flaggers.

The contractor carrying out the construction is Shields Asphalt Paving Inc. of Valencia, Pennsylvania.

The total contract cost of $4,463,353.85 is to be paid for entirely with state funds.

Motorists are encouraged to check the 511PA website for any traffic delays or roadway conditions.
