A Northeast Ohio-based company is using new thermal drone technology to help owners find their lost pets.

Drone Animal Rescue assisted the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project of Warren in finding two black Labrador dogs in the Warren area who had been missing for three days using the new technology.

Co-Founder of Drone Animal Rescue, Zach Dzurinda, sat down with Lindsay McCoy for an interview on 21 News at Five, who says that he is very proud to be a part of these moments where they can help pets be found.

"These pet owners, sometimes, you know, lose hope completely. But, you know, miracles happen all the time, and for us to just to be able to come out there and be that miracle for them is incredible," said Dzurinda.

Dzurinda says that the company began out of a common interest with his friend and business partner, in addition to pet owners being targeted by potential scammers who claimed they would offer drone services without actually providing them.

According to the Drone Animal Rescue website, there are over 250 drone pilots in the organization who use the technology to help locate pets.

Dzurinda shared a few tips for pet owners looking to keep their pets safe, including:

  • Keeping a good hold of your pet
  • Having secure fencing
  • Using GPS trackers, such as an Apple AirTag

However, Dzurinda says that if anyone with a lost pet did need Drone Animal Rescue's services, they can check out the website and click "Find a Pilot."
