POLANDGiant Eagle in Poland was briefly evacuated Thursday morning after an employee reported seeing a smoky haze inside the building and smelling what they believed was an electrical odor.

Poland Fire Department responded to the call after 9 a.m., and the building was briefly evacuated while the fire department investigated.

Firefighters inspected all levels, including the roof, and believe the hazy smoke and smell were caused by a belt inside the building's HVAC unit.

Everyone was allowed to return inside the building just before 10 a.m.

A representative from Giant Eagle tells 21 News that a piece of machinery triggered a smoke alarm inside the store, prompting an evacuation out of an abundance of caution, but the store has since reopened.
