Two more lawsuits filed in connection with Realty Tower explosion

YOUNGSTOWN - Two more lawsuits have been filed in connection with the deadly explosion at the Realty Building in downtown Youngstown in May of 2024.
The first of the two new suits was filed on January 27, 2026 by a woman who lived in one of the apartments housed on the upper floors of the building with her son.
Meanwhile, the other suit was filed on February 13, 2026 by an employee of the Chase Bank branch that occupied the first floor of the building.
The suit states that the employee was working at the time of the explosion, and suffered a laundry list of injuries as a result, including a neck injury, a lower back injury, a concussion, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and more.
Both suits, like the many filed before them, name building owners LY Property Management LLC and YO Properties 47 LLC, as well as contractor Greenheart Companies, gas company Enbridge Gas Ohio and five John Does as defendants.
The suits accuse the building owners of failing to ensure Greenheart, who had a crew working in the basement of the building, was complying with all rules, regulations and standards of care with their work.
The suits also slam Greenheart, alleging that its crew in the basement was not properly supervised or trained, and also accuse Enbridge of failing to warn the Greenheart workers that the gas line had not been depressurized.
The first suit demands damages exceeding $25,000 plus interest and court costs. The second does not specify an amount, but asks that "judgment be awarded against [the defendants]."
