The Athletic Director and Dean of Students at South Range Local Schools has died, Superintendent Jarred Zapolnik announced in a Facebook post.

Donee Feren will be honored during a moment of silence at Saturday's South Range basketball game and athletic events later next week, the post states.

"We will hold Donee's memory close as we navigate his tragic loss," Zapolnik stated. "Donee's passion for education and the development of our young Raiders transcended every classroom and sports arena; it's why his impact on Raider Nation is indelible."

Feren joined the South Range staff in 2008 before being named head softball coach in 2009.

He was also a Youngstown State University graduate and a South Range Athletic Hall of Fame inductee in 1996 for his football accomplishments.

"While his loss will be felt deeply in our hallways and community, it's his legacy that will be eternally celebrated," Zapolnik stated.
