Emergency vehicles from the Youngstown Police Department and the Youngstown Fire Department are on the scene of a potential home explosion in Youngstown as of 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

A photo from the scene shows several emergency vehicles with lights flashing alongside a home, located in the area of Overland Avenue and Garfield Street, with heavy damage to the structure and the roof visibly collapsed into the main area.

Additionally, a 21 News crew member on the scene saw responders from Ohio Edison, an electricity company, and Enbridge, a natural gas company, arrive on the scene.

Neighbors say that they felt the incident shake their homes.

Police on the scene confirmed that no one was inside the home at the time, and it has sat vacant for about a year.

Minor damage was reported to one home directly next to the house, but everyone inside was okay.

Investigative crews are expected to return to the scene later in the day, aiming to determine a potential cause for the explosion.
