SHARON - A prviate group that specialized in identifying sexual predators assisted the Sharon Police Department in the arrest of a registered sex offender.

According to a criminal complaint, the group, identified as "Predator Poachers" contacted the Sharon Police Department on Sunday, March 1, about a registered sex offender they lured into the Sharon area.

The complaint alleges that 47-year-old Calvin Kendall took an Uber from Pittsburgh to Sharon to the 400 block of Frank Street in Sharon, expecting to have a sexual encounter with an 11-year-old girl and her mother.

Members of Predator Poachers told police that Kendall planned on bringing a fake adoption document to adopt the girl. Police say he also brought "sex toys" with him.

Police say when Kendall arrived, officers questioned him regarding the sexually-explicit text messages he sent to the group members posing as the girl and her mother.

Kendall allegedly told police he "did not plan on doing anything tonight" and that he was just there to adopt the girl. Police say Kendall told officers he would have waited until the girl was 18 to do anything sexual.

When police further pressed him, Kendall allegedly admitted he planned to stay at the home for two days and have sexual contact with the girl on the second day.

Court records show Kendall is charged with attempted statuatory sexual assault and attempted sexual assault. He was arraigned Monday morning, and is due back in court on March 13.
