Springfield Local High School receives donation to drone program

The Springfield Local High School drone program received a donation from the Springfield Optimist Club on February 26, 2026, according to a news alert.
The $500 donation, presented by senior club member Donald Marsco, pictured above on the far right, provided new MacBooks for student simulator training and iMovie production.
According to the alert, Joe Merson, the Assistant Treasurer of the Springfield Township Optimist Club, is seeking additional grant funding to help bolster the program.
Under the guidance of Instructor Stacey Sahli, pictured above on the far left, the program receives $725 for each credit earned through a performance-based funding model.
"I believe drones have huge future opportunities. They are implemented in so many facets of our lives. Students with these skills will have a significant advantage in different fields such as real estate, cinematography, public safety, construction, agriculture or even the military," said Sahli.
