Poland Seminary High School closed Tuesday due to threat

POLAND - Classes are canceled at Poland Seminary High School on Tuesday, March 3.
A notice on Poland Local Schools' website says that high school classes are canceled for the day due to a potential threat targeting the high school, which houses grades 7-12.
Poland Interim Superintendent Andrew Tommelleo tells 21 News he was notified by the high school's principal that a student had posted information on Snapchat about a threat against the high school they had heard.
Tommelleo said the Snapchat post mentioned a threat to a specific area of the high school at a specific time. Tommelleo added that the district only closed the high school because the threat was specific to that building.
The district says local authorities have been contacted to investigate the matter. As it stands, authorities are working to determine the source of the information in the Snapchat post.
The district says it prioritizes the safety of its students and takes threats like these seriously.
"Part of maintaining a safe environment to learn is ensuring students have an outlet to communicate when they sense trouble or do not feel safe. Students can rely on administrators, guidance counselors, school resource officers and their trusted adults when they feel unsafe in school," the district's notice reads.
