WARREN - Councilmembers with the City of Warren are considering livestreaming its council meetings.

Making these meetings accessible to the public over the internet has been a long-standing discussion within the city's administration.

Councilmembers are considering what type of camera and audio equipment the city wants to use for both caucus meetings and council meetings.

Warren's Livestream Committee Chairwoman and 2nd Ward Councilwoman Tina Milner said there have been too many obstacles to reach this point, including the cost of equipment.

"We're not here to reinvent the wheel; we just need to find something that's going to work and be affordable for us," said Milner.

Milner adds she would like to have a simple system and go around to other communities to see how they work before the livestream committee meets again.

"We have some quotes that previous council people have gotten for livestreaming and we're going to compare them, find out exactly what type of equipment we can utilize so that residents are aware of what is going on, even if they cannot make it to the meeting," said Milner.

Milner said a decision will be made at the council's next meeting on April 8.
