Judge issues arrest warrant for Warren man who allegedly injured a puppy

A 36-year-old Warren man who was due in court for alleged abuse a three month old puppy now has an arrest warrent issued after failing to show up at at a probable cause hearing Thursday.
Robert Mealy's dog was seized from him in early February after Warren Dog Warden and Healthy Hearts and Paws President Jason Cooke found the puppy with broken blood vessels around the eye, a possible hairline fracture in one of his ribs and a fracture in the shoulder growth plate that had to be a splint for three weeks at a home on Adelaide Avenue in the city.
While the defendent's counsel did show for court, and according to the court filing, his attorney said Mealy was not able to be be court as he is in Texas.
Following Mealy's failure to show up at the court, Judge Patricia Knepp revoked Mealy's bond after the prosecutor told the judge that Mealy was allegedly in possesion of another animal which would be in violation of his prohibition and issued the dog not returned to the defendent.
The judge also ordered Mealy held without bond once apprehended.
