Lou Holtz's legacy preserved at Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame
The iconic Valley native and football coach, Lou Holtz, continues to be honored at the Lou Holtz Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame in East Liverpool.
The director of operations at the museum, Michelle Roberts, said that after his National Championship victory in 1988, Holtz rejected the idea of having a museum dedicated to himself. Instead, he wanted to highlight the community and the hard-working people who shape it.
"He was very humble about everything," Roberts said. "He was all about talking to other people and finding out their stories. He didn't want to talk about himself; he wanted to find out about you."
Since its opening, there have been over 100 inductions into the Hall of Fame. Each of them embodied Holtz's vision that ordinary people can do extraordinary things.
If you wish to visit the hall of fame, it can be found at 120 East 5th Street in East Liverpool. Operating hours can be found on the museum's website here.
