New field turf will soon be installed at 717 Credit Union Field at Eastwood in preparation for the Scrappers 2026 season.

The $1.4 million dollar project is funded through a grant from the State of Ohio and private funding.

"Its going to be a huge deal for the team having turf really allows us much more certainty being able to play games," said HWS Baseball Vice President Jordan Taylor.

According to Taylor turf will surround the entire playing surface including base areas, batters box and pitching mound.

"Maintenance wear and tear becomes a lot less with turf," said Taylor who hopes the new look will bring the opportunity to have more events at the ballpark.

The construction started last November but the heavy snow in January didn't help matters.

Its hoped the new field is in place by the end of the month.
