Cardinal Mooney students win MIT-led engineering competition

Students from Cardinal Moone, pictured above, won an engineering event led by researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
According to a news release, the event took place at the Alliance for Working Together Foundation (AWT) headquarters in Mentor.
The event consisted of two sessions. The first session was a competition in which students built a gas turbine, and the second session was centered around a Lego-themed manufacturing activity.
The Lego-inspired activity aimed to create a special opportunity for the students participating, as the program is taught to freshmen engineering students at MIT.
Through the program, students learned the concepts of engineering design and manufacturing processes using the bricks. The session also encouraged collaboration and critical thinking among teammates.
"Experiences like this help introduce Cardinal Mooney students to real-world engineering challenges while also exposing them to advanced learning opportunities that can inspire future academic and career paths," the news release said. "School officials expressed pride in the students' achievement and their ability to represent their school and community with excellence."
