Rain & possible gusty storms Wednesday, then a big temperature drop

After a record-setting Tuesday in the temperature department, another record high will be challenged on Wednesday. However, the bigger story will be the threat of heavy rain and gusty winds from a few rounds of showers and thunderstorms. It is likely to turn into an unsettled morning; storms will carry a low-end severe weather risk, and some tropical downpours will be a possibility. If the sky partially clears in the afternoon, am approaching cold front could trigger another round of storms toward early evening. If clearing does not take place, the odds of bumpy late-day weather will be lower.
Either way, much colder air is set to surge into eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania Wednesday night into Thursday. Despite some sun, readings will be hard-pressed to get out of the 30s Thursday.
We expect temperatures to rebound into the 50s Friday, but the milder air will be accompanied by strong winds. Gusts of 45-50 mph are looking likely before the wind diminishes Friday night. The upcoming weekend should start on a seasonable note, then a much warmer day is likely to unfold on Sunday. The warmup won't last long, though; sharply colder air will settle in during the first half of next week.
