NILES - A waterline replacement project has begun construction this week in Niles.

The over $300,000 city-funded project includes upgrades to over 1,800 feet of waterline to First Street and Brown Street.

Kevin Robertson, the City of Niles Water Superintendent, said water pressure for buildings and residences on those roads will only be impacted for a few hours in late April while crews officially deactivate the old waterline and activate the new one.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of May 2026.
