A sharply colder day Thursday; strong winds expected Friday

After a couple of days with record warmth Tuesday and Wednesday, a much different day is in store for Thursday, with readings in the 30s most of the day. The strong cold front responsible for Wednesday's wet weather and the big overnight temperature drop will be well to our east by daybreak Thursday. Clouds will quickly decrease, but a gusty breeze will offset the sunshine and make it feel even cooler. There could even be a passing snow flurry during the afternoon.
We expect a potent area of low pressure to cross the Great Lakes region on Friday. While the system will not produce much precipitation, gusty winds will develop rather quickly by midday. Some gusts of 50 mph or so will be quite possible at times. The wind will slowly diminish Friday night.
Friday's brief warm up will be followed by a more seasonably chilly day Saturday. Balmy air is set to return on Sunday, but several February-like days are in the forecast for next week.
