Mercy Health is expanding its services, now offering specialized care for hand surgery alongside foot and ankle surgery.

In a news release, Mercy Health said it's aiming to meet the needs of the community and wants to ensure higher-quality care closer to residents of the Valley.

“Families in the Mahoning Valley deserve access to the same advanced orthopedic care found in larger cities,” said Ryan Foertch, Director of Service Line in Orthopedics. “By investing in both talented surgeons and leading technology like robotic-assisted joint replacement, we’re making sure our community has the very best care right here at home.”

Hand surgery care will be offered by Dr. Christopher Gause, who treats hands, wrists and upper extremity injuries and conditions.

Meanwhile, foot and ankle surgery will be conducted by Dr. Andrew Cramer, who addresses injuries, deformities and chronic conditions.

The news release says that robotic-assisted technology changes the procedure by using more precise techniques. The technology also lowers pain after the procedure, allowing for shorter hospital stays and recovery.

Mercy Health is continuing its other services in total joint replacement, orthopedic trauma, sports medicine and general orthopedics.

Patients can find more information and make an appointment using the Mercy Health - Youngstown website.
