LISBON - A former Columbiana County Jail guard entered a guilty plea and was sentenced on Thursday, March 12.

Twenty-seven-year-old David Ferguson-Grantz of Springfield Township pleaded guilty to a second-degree misdemeanor count of attempted assault related to incidents from September of 2024.

Ferguson-Grantz was sentenced to 90 days in Columbiana County Jail, with 50 days suspended. Additionally, he will owe $200 for the attempted assault charge and $75 per month to the court.

In September 2024, police said Ferguson-Grantz threw a handcuffed inmate to the floor, then grabbed the inmate around the head and hit their head against the wall.

In another incident, police said Ferguson-Grantz pushed a different handcuffed inmate up a stairway and jumped on him, "folding him in half."

Both inmates were hospitalized, and the jail's security cameras recorded both incidents.

Twenty-seven-year-old Clint Reynolds of Lisbon, also a former Columbiana County Jail guard accused of assaulting inmates, was previously found guilty of disorderly conduct in January 2025. He was not ordered to spend any time in jail, but was ordered to pay $150.
