Girls flag football around the state kicks off later this month, and nine area schools have teams competing.  Throughout the state, 160 teams are scheduled to play.

East, West Branch, & Campbell are from Mahoning County, while Mineral Ridge, Newton Falls, Champion, Warren Harding, Howland, and Liberty are from Trumbull County.

Warren Harding participated last year and reached the tournament at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland.

Two other regional teams participating are Marlington & Rootstown.

Games will be held on Sundays starting March 22, and teams can play up to 3 games in a day.  Teams will play nine games over a five-week stretch.

The Cleveland Browns have helped teams in the northern part of the state with supplying equipment and training sessions.

The Browns & Bengals championships are May 11th, with the state championship May 16 at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
