'2026 Fur Ball' held to benefit Mahoning County animal shelter operations

Animal Charity of Ohio, located at 8469 Southern Boulevard in Boardman, hosted the community on Saturday, March 14, for the 2026 Fur Ball.
The event, according to the Animal Charity of Ohio website, is done annually to help raise money for the shelter's rescue efforts, vet care and general operations.
Animal Charity of Ohio has held this event for the past 11 years.
Guests in attendance at the Fur Ball had the chance to enjoy a cash bar, a silent auction, a cash auction, a 50/50 raffle, a DJ and dinner along with dessert.
The Animal Charity of Ohio Board President, Jenny Falvey, says that the shelter has brought in 32% more animals than they did in 2025. So far, the shelter has taken in 214 animals in 2026.
Falvey continues, stating that the shelter needs assistance from donations to provide care to animals in need.
"It is Mahoning County's only humane society. So, we receive no federal, state or consistent local funding, so we survive on donations," said Falvey.
More information on how to get involved with Animal Charity of Ohio or how to donate or adopt can be found on its website.
