The Trumbull County Coaches Association held its 39th Annual Trumbull Player of the Year Banquet at Leo's Ristorante in Howland Monday.

LaBrae's Austin Rowe took home the honors on the boys side and Warren JFK's Gianna Pompelia on the girls side.

Rowe scored over 1,400 career points and holds the record for threes in a game, season and career.

He helped lead the team to four straight conference titles and committed to Mount Vernon Nazarene University to continue his playing career.

Austin and his father Todd, became the first father-son duo to win this award.

Rowe said, "I didn't know that it was the first father son combination, but it's really special to win it as my dad did earlier too, he's worked me throughout my whole life so credit to him."

Pompelia averaged over 20 points and 8 rebounds during her senior campaign.

She scored over 1,300 career points and set the school record for most points in a game with 43.

Pompelia will head to Wheeling University to continue her playing career.

Pompelia said, "It means a lot, knowing other girls and boys came and got chosen for this so knowing that everyone was able to come and choose me and just know that people hopefully can look up to me for this and just work as hard."

There were 19 boys nominated by their coach for the award and 18 girls.
