YOUNGSTOWN - Several Mill Creek MetroParks roads are set to close for several hours on Sunday morning.

Several roads will close between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, in preparation for the Youngstown Road Runners Club's (YRRC's) Mill Creek Distance Classic Half-Marathon and 5-Mile Run.

According to the event's signup page, proceeds from the run will benefit the YSU Cross Country Scholarship Endowment and the YRRC shoe program for high school runners in need.

Registration costs $55 for the half-marathon and $40 for the 5-mile run. Those interested have until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 20, to register and can do so by clicking here.

The following roads will be closed between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday:

  • West Park Drive
  • West Cohasset Drive
  • High Drive
  • Valley Drive
  • Chestnut Hill Drive
  • East Park Drive
  • East Park Hike & Bike Trail
  • East Cohasset Hike & Bike Trail
  • Robinson Hill Drive
  • Memorial Hill Drive
  • East Newport Drive
  • Kreider's Entrance
  • Old Mill Drive
  • West Newport Drive

Additionally, access to the Ford Nature Center will only be available via Volney Road from Glenwood Avenue, and access to the Lily Pond will only be available via the McCollum Road entrance onto Birch Hill Drive.
