New Castle man sentenced to prison for drug trafficking, firearm possession

NEW CASTLE, Pa. - A New Castle man was sentenced Thursday in federal court after being convicted of drug trafficking and firearm crimes.
Jauan Searcy pled guilty to the charges in July of 2025. He admitted to conspiring to distribute, fentanyl, heroin and cocaine between August 2023 and August 2024, along with possessing a firearm after a felony conviction.
Searcy, 44, has been sentenced to 80 months in prison which will be followed by six years of supervised release, according to United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania Troy Rivetti.
Information presented in the courtroom stated that Searcy had been part of a drug trafficking conspiracy based out of Detroit and New Castle. Searcy’s role was to sell the drugs he received through the network to his own customers in the New Castle area.
When Searcy was arrested at his home in August 2024, officers found a shotgun next to his bed; federal law prohibits convicted felons from possessing any firearms or ammunition.
